How to set goals for high growth
For high performance, try setting a pacer goal.
A pacer goal is a goal that, when you say it out loud, makes you really nervous that you won't actually be able to accomplish it.
A pacer goal, however, isn't meant to be reached. It's meant as a guide for growth.
Ex: If my goal is to sell 40 products a day and I'm currently selling 30, my capacity for growth is 10 products a day. However, if I set a pacer goal of selling 100 products a day and I'm currently selling 30, my capacity for growth is 70. Now, each day I'm going to ask myself: How can I sell just one more product today? Then repeat that everyday until I am selling 100 products a day.
The pacer goal is meant to keep you in the growth-zone by forcing you to always ask yourself: how can I get closer to that standard?
Here's the interesting thing with the previous example: with the higher goal of 100 products a day, I will sooner or later pass the low goal of 40 products a day on the way.
Low goals, low growth.
High goals, high growth.
