Something I learned
I watched Tiago Forte’s Google Talk on the importance of having what he calls a “Second Brain”.
What struck me the most (and what moved me to create my own “Second Brain”) was the idea that our biological brains are so limited that we can’t keep up with the information overload that we are bombarded with daily. The solution he came up with is to intentionally store information in some form of database for later use.
These bits of information aren’t just random blobs of information you run into as you scroll on Twitter, but rather information you find useful that you may find useful now or in the future.
One of the main benefits of doing this is that, over time, you will have collected enough information to assist you when you run into future problems that need solutions from diverse sources.
For example, suppose you are currently interested in real-estate but not actively looking to buy a property. In that case, you might have an Area or Resource (see image below) on real estate where you can store all of what you learn about real estate. Then, when you get serious about buying a house in the future, you don’t have to re-do all that research, you can just look back at your “Second Brain” and, voila! You have all the information you need right there. Tiago suggests using the PARA framework for organizing all of your findings:

Something I did
Inspired by Tiago Forte’s “Second Brain”, I decided to try making my digital version of Notion (my favorite app on the planet).
I started making one independently, but then discovered Thomas Frank’s YouTube channel where he dives deep into how to build a Second Brain.
Here’s the result of watching his videos:

These are just a few of the views that I was able to make after watching his videos.
I’ve spent a few hours fine-tuning my Second Brain setup to my personal preferences. I’m excited to start using it!
Something I used
I recently only got yet another pair of OnCloud shoes (if you know me, you wouldn’t be surprised).
I’m a sucker for quality shoes, and OnClouds are by far my favorite.
I mean, look at these puppies 👇🏼
