You're currently paying too much in tax.
I'm not talking about the tax you fork over to the state or federal government.
I'm talking about ignorance tax: The price you pay for lack of knowledge or skills.
This tax can come in the form of dollars and cents, or in the form of emotional or physiological satisfaction.
Example:
- Last year you made $100k and you wanted to make $200k. You paid a price of $100k in ignorance tax for not having the knowledge or skills to make $200k.
- Yesterday you said the wrong things to your spouse or friend because you overreacted, and now there's tension between you two. You paid the emotional price of ignorance tax for not having the know-how or skills to navigate a difficult social situation.
- You woke up this morning feeling sick because you ate an entire Little Caesar's pizza and a milkshake at 11:00pm and you keep wondering why you don't feel good in the mornings. You paid the physiological price of ignorance tax for not knowing your body and how to take care of it properly.
The hard truth is everyone has paid and always will pay more than they care to admit in ignorance tax.
But here's the good news: If you commit to be a lifelong learner, that bill will be less and less.
