How to predict the future, e-Commerce, free food, and Chewbacca giving birth
Something I learned
This week I learned how to predict the future... sort of.
I'm almost done reading Smarter, Better, Faster by Charles Duhigg and I just learned how to make better decisions by weighing out possible future outcomes.
He writes about Annie, a college graduate turned poker champion and winner of over $4M in game winnings.
How did she get to that point?
By being able to predict the future based on probabilities.
We all want to make decisions that are certain, but Duhigg argues (backed by evidence) that the greatest success comes by being okay with uncertainty.
By doing research on the probability of all (or most) possible outcomes, you can reasonably predict the future.
Which college will you get accepted into?
How likely are you to stay together if you marry a particular person?
What are the odds of your business succeeding?
By taking into the account the odds of success and failure, you can make better decisions.
Something I did
I started an e-Commerce business!
Basically I sell a bunch of really cool things at a discount on an online store.
Right now, my biggest niches are dog and baby products.
I haven't made any money yet, but I'm excited to see it take off!
Check out this link to see the store (and maybe pick something up while you're at it 😉 )
Something I used
This week I used my brother-in-law's student-athlete meal card to get free food.
Am I an athlete? Nope.
Is what I did against the rules? Probably.
Do I regret it? Definitely not. Free food is the key to my heart.
Thanks Chase ❤️
