What to do when you want a unified team
Get buy-in from your team by asking them 3 questions:
(First, get a whiteboard where you can write down the team's responses).
- What are your personal goals?
- Write down the responses of each team member to make sure everyone feels represented
- What team goals can we have to support your personal goals?
- Make the team goals support the personal goals.
- How do the organization's goals support your team and personal goals?
- Lay out the vision of the organization and work together to see how it supports the team and personal goals.
If done right, they'll feel like their goals are the most important thing, and the team and organization are there to help them, not the other way around.
