Religious or not, we all have a strong belief in something (fitting for an election year).
How do you balance sticking to the rules (orthodoxy) and keeping all your friends (harmony)?
What’s more important? What’s the order of implementation?
Importance: Orthodoxy > Harmony
We shouldn’t abandon our beliefs for the sake of pleasing other people.
Implementation: Harmony → Orthodoxy
Orthodoxy cannot and should not be achieved by sacrificing harmony.
This is the wild truth: you can have both.
Don’t be disagreeable for the sake of orthodoxy because, whether your goal is to “win people over” or not, if they don’t like you, you have no chance of helping them see things from a different perspective.
Keep your friends, build relationships. And who knows? They might just start to see things from your point of view.
